Actually, 95% is a misstatement, that unfortunately I have seen a past Local President perpetuate. There is actually a formula that starts with 95% of take home pay,which is our current, after tax pay for a 40 hr week. THEN taxes are withheld from that also. So the actual number comes in somewhere around 70%. Which is still not bad for a week of layoff, but the fact is, it is NOT 95%.
Myself, I would much rather have MY 'lazy butt' at work making 100% of my pay.
